Supported Independent Living (SIL)
What is NDIS Supported Independent Living?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding that helps people with disabilities live more independently by providing assistance with daily tasks and personal care, either in their own home or in shared accommodation. SIL is for participants with high support needs who require ongoing, often around-the-clock assistance. While SIL funding covers assistance with tasks and supervision, it does not cover accommodation costs, rent, or food expenses. Participants can receive SIL either in their own home, in a shared living arrangement, or together with Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) if eligible. For those needing help navigating NDIS Home and Living options, a Home and Living Consultant can guide participants through the process, helping them plan and explore all available options in a simple and supportive way.
Our Shared Living Options
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
SIL provides regular support to help people with daily tasks so they can live as independently as possible. It’s usually for those who need a lot of help and can be offered in shared housing or the participant’s own home.
Medium Term Accommodation (MTA)
MTA is temporary housing, typically for up to 90 days, for people waiting for a more permanent solution. It’s a safe place to stay while waiting for other options like SIL or Specialist Disability Accommodation.
Short Term Accommodation (STA)
STA, or respite, offers a short stay away from home, usually for up to 14 days. It gives participants and their caregivers a break, with necessary care and support during the stay.
